When our daughter was little, she had a thing about hearing our instruction and finding the cutest way to circumvent it. We laughed, but we soon realized it did her heart no good to do a good thing instead of the right thing. I'm sure, like me, you have found yourself doing good things instead of the right things that God has called you to do. Two things. That's it. There are really only two things we really must do in life.
We can spend our whole lives on a pew, listening, paying attention, studying the Word faithfully. But unless we are actually doing the things we are told we should be doing, we can’t really call ourselves disciples.
At one point in my life, I was faced with so much denominational strife that I cried out to God saying I would rather remain voiceless than enter the fray. At that moment He gave me a Scripture that has become the plumb-line for my heart in this matter.
Sometimes I feel so weighted down by all the things I'm told I should or could be doing. How do we decide what to cut and what to keep when it's all just too much?
