Forgiveness. It may be the hardest thing you ever do in your life. But it is the starting place of freedom for your heart. It breaks my heart that so many of us have been taught things about forgiveness that simply aren’t true. God’s reaction to my failure often surprises me. He doesn’t react like humans do. As soon as repentance takes place, He is ready to move forward with me! There is no protracted guilt trip or silent treatment. He forgives and moves forward.
When someone sins against you, it feels so stingingly personal. And yet, there is a way to take yourself out of the equation and release them from the debt they “owe” you. Because you belong to God, He takes sins against you personally and the debt others owe is truly a debt to Him.
